DESCRIPTION:Author\, columnist\, and comedian Steve Hofstetter is often called the hardest working man in show-business. With all due respect to the late James Brown. \nHofstetter’s national TV debut came on ESPN’s Quite Frankly\, where Stephen A. Smith yelled at him for three minutes. Hofstetter has also appeared on CBS’ “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson”\, Showtime’s “White Boyz in the Hood”\, VH1’s “Countdown”\, Sundance’s “On the Road in America”\, and ABC’s “Barbara Walter’s Special”\, where he thankfully did not cry. He is the host and executive producer of “Laughs” on Fox networks\, where he only cries occasionally. \nOne of the top booked acts on the college circuit\, the original writer for collegehumor.com has also released six albums. Hofstetter has written humor columns for the New York Times\, SportsIllustrated.com\, and NHL.com\, where he publicly admitted to being a Ranger fan. \nAfter hosting Four Quotas on Sirius Satellite Radio for two seasons\, Hofstetter moved to broadcast radio\, and his Sports Minute (Or So) was syndicated on over 170 stations and in over 30 newspapers. Hofstetter’s second live comedy album (“Cure For the Cable Guy”) reached #20 on Billboard’s comedy charts. His third album (“Dark Side of the Room”) was the first ever pay-what-you-want” comedy album\, since people were going to steal it anyway. His fourth album consisted of an hour of 100% ad-libbed material\, which is\, frankly\, nuts. And his fifth album hit #1 on iTunes’ comedy charts\, which is also a bit nuts. \nHofstetter’s brutal tour schedule consists of over 100 colleges and dozens of clubs every year\, and is fueled by an immense online popularity\, tons of press\, and a Prius with great gas mileage. He reached 200\,000 friends on Facebook (still the world record)\, 400\,000 more on MySpace\, and high shelves in grocery stores. \nWhile Hofstetter’s live shows are routinely sold out\, he is best known for his writing\, first published at age 15\, mainly to impress girls. At 18\, he co-founded “Sports Jerk of the Week”\, an irreverent website featured by press like USA Today’s Baseball Weekly\, Sports Illustrated and CNN. And at 20\, Hofstetter took a year off of school to head up web content for the New York Yankees. The Yankees won the World Series that year\, which would have been wonderful if they hadn’t beaten Hofstetter’s Mets. Yes\, he’s also a Mets fan. Poor kid. \nWhile an undergraduate at Columbia University\, Hofstetter was a well-read columnist for the Columbia Daily Spectator and a voice of the Lions. DESCRIPTION:Following weeks of teasing\, progressive rockers HAKEN are pleased to announce their seventh studio album ‘Fauna’\, their most genre- busting and conceptually fascinating album to date. The album will be released on the 3rd March 2023\, and following the release of ‘Nightingale’ earlier this year\, they are pleased to present ‘The Alphabet of Me’\, the second track taken from the record. \nWatch the video for ‘The Alphabet of Me’\, directed by Crystal Spotlight\, here:\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptLj-2Gv4xw \nVocalist Ross Jennings comments:\n“When composing and presenting initial song sketches\, we very much had an “anything goes” mentality\, and whilst sounding atypically Haken\, it was a piece that was all exciting us to explore and integrate into our song canon. \nWhere the lyrics are concerned\, I leant heavily on one of my favourite writers Philip K Dick\, for\ninspiration. Keeping our loose concept of spirit animals in mind\, I re-read ‘Do robots dream of electric sheep?’ (Which would later be adapted into the 1982 film ’Blade Runner’) knowing symbolically that animals played a key role in the story. This\, along with revisiting both movies from the Blade Runner franchise\, opened up some deeper philosophical topics about the nature of identity which have served as a backbone for the lyrical content” \n‘Fauna’ sees the band exploring new ideas conceptually as Ross continues. “The premise of the album when we started writing it was that every song would have an animal assigned to it. They all have something related to the animal kingdom that we could write about\, but they also connect to the human world. Each track has layers\, and some of them are more obvious than others.” \n“It reminds me of The Mountain\,” adds guitarist and fellow founder Richard Henshall. “There\, we had the idea of not really a narrative-based album\, but more the concept of climbing a mountain and overcoming the obstacles along the way. Then we took that and thought about how it could relate to our everyday lives. All of Fauna’s animals relate to us\, personally.” \n‘Fauna’ also marks the return of keyboard player Peter Jones\, whose sounds can be heard\npermeating the entire album. “What Pete’s brought sonically to the band has played a massive role in why we do have a lot of new sounds on this record\,” says Ross. “It’s always a new dynamic when there’s a change in personnel\, and this is a fresh and reviving one. It’s certainly helped proximity-wise\, with Pete being in the country: Pete and Ray [Hearne\, Haken’s drummer] would be at Rich’s place and they’d just start jamming.
